Rules

The competition is open to all non-commercial, home-produced beers, meads and ciders. Please enter as many categories and as often as you wish. Competition organizers, sponsors, judges, and stewards may enter the competition but will not be permitted to judge or steward any category that they have entries in.

The British Beerfest will accept entries from the 2021 BJCP styles listed in the Info tab. Please note: some categories may be combined with related categories for the purpose of awarding prizes.

Category 17A1, Burton Ale, has been selected for this year's Lucci Cup competition. The Lucci Cup is named for Susan Lucci, who was nominated and failed to win a Daytime Emmy Award 17 times, but finally won on her 18th nomination. This award is dedicated to all brewers who enter competitions and never seem to win the top prize.

For judges, we are trying to go all electronic for scoring this year. This means that you should be prepared to bring whatever laptop/chromebook/tablet/etc. you want to use to enter evaluations. If you need to buy something, Amazon has basic Chromebooks for around $45 dollars that provide the necessary functionality (wifi, keyboard, touchpad, display, browser.)

Entry Acceptance Rules

Number of Bottles Required Per Entry: 2

Each entry will consist of two 12 to 22 ounce capped, swing top, corked bottles, or cans, that are void of all identifying information, including labels and embossing. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely.

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Bottles and unused entries will not be returned to contest entrants.

Cider and mead entries may submit only one bottle since they are not eligible for Best of Show.

Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants.

Completed entry forms must be submitted with all entries, and can be printed directly from this website. Bottle labels should be attached to bottles with a rubber band only; glue and/or tape are unacceptable.

Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.
